IN SEARCH OF ROOTS
by Tracey Micklethwaite‘In Search of Roots’ is one of a series of four pieces of sculpture made for the exhibition ‘Between Worlds’, currently on display at St Albans Cathedral. Initiated by thoughts of how all of life flows through sacred spaces, to be held, celebrated and honoured, these delicate abstract forms are a poetic exploration of the cyclical nature of life’s rise and fall: throughout the year, through the trajectory of our lives, as well as through the weaving together of generations. Made from various types of wire, flickering metal sheet and small lamp worked glass forms, these pieces inhabit the liminal space between seen and sensed reality with an otherworldly presence.
